The jungle lac craft of Nowrangapur in Koraput is the well known hub for Lac combs of Odissa. These combs are known as Lac Siredi in the locality and mainly have two types of figure. The quadrangular one used largely by men and the circular one meant for the women. 

Lac, is a secretion of an insect in form of resin which is cultured here. Lac is believed to have started off in Nawaragapur district of Orissa. Uttar Pradesh is a significant hub for hand-block printing with the traditional butis, paisley designs and the tree of life as the major conventional motifs used in a variety of shapes and in gallant medium and bright patterns. Motivated by Muslim architecture, the tree of life motif bears an Indo-Persian touch. In the border town of Jaisalmer a variety of resist printing that requires extremely low temperatures is prepared. This can consequently be procedured only for the period of the night and in winter. The conventional block-printing which run in parallel lines technique of Ajrakh has attained a height of distinction at Balotra. Even though a desert climate but pure water is one of the chief reasons which impart good colours which is so essential for hand-block printing. The area of expertise of the block printing of Balotra is that it is finished on both sides of the cloth. This is very tricky technique as there should not be any disproportion in the design-transfer from the block to the cloth. The reverse side hand block printing is prepared simultaneously even when the previous side of the design print is wet. For that reason the hand block printed fabric from Balotra is very exclusive and comparatively expensive.
