Cane and bamboo is obtainable in masses in the mountainous state of Meghalaya. The fibre grows up incredibly rapid and several ranges can even breed by a meter for every day. Diverse varieties of baskets are prepared in Meghalaya. The artistic baskets are known as meghum khoks in the neighbourhood. Khoks or thugis and other baskets are used to stock up dissimilar everyday objects. The tribes of Meghalay have been mechanizing these bamboo objects for times and yet use the baskets to store expensive bits and pieces and clothes.
The khasi tribals are masters to weave cane into mats, stools and even umbrellas. The umbrellas are known as Kurup in the home language.
