Ankik Gudhna or Tattoos of Chhattisgarh , India

For the adivasis or the tribals Madhya Pradesh and Chhatisgarh the tattooing is said to have a social significance which is widely in practice this art of marking with tattoo. Although the tattooing is done nearly on entire body but it is prohibited on the waist and the hips. 

The tattooing commences at an early age of seven years and before marriage of girl. Tattoo and its motif is a status and is a sign of the group code in terms of safety and it is assumed that even if every ornaments of a woman taken away after death, totoos are the lone thing she can take to the next world.

The Bhils love the traditional mark which indicates the group or community to which a person belong along with their occupation agriculture , cattle breeding and culture. Designs and pattern are connected to agriculture, cattle breeding, animals, birds, scorpion, honey bee and flowers. Most fashionable scene is Sita rasoi or kitchen of Sita from epic Ramayana.
