Handmade paper, as the name advocates is made by hands by means of a mould, which is a frame enclosed with a flat, rigid screen or flexible screen. The mould is roofed by a flat frame which stores the run-off of wet pulp. The wet mat of fibers left over in the newly formed sheet is then dried against blankets and may be hot / cold pressed, or air dried.
It was conventionally made using vegetable fibers and cotton rags and boiling them in hot water and chemicals to break the fibers. Recycled paper was in addition used to make hand paper.
Handmade paper is becoming admired for its exquisiteness and aesthetic plea and is as well being used to make striking decorative wrappers, invitation cards, greeting cards, envelopes, shopping bags, boxes, tags etc. This special paper is being used the world over for its superiority and eye catching appeal.
