Keyboard Typewriter: These typewriters are operated by pushing a single or a blend of keys so as to print a letter on to a paper. These typewriters were fairly popular amid the late 18th and the early 19th century. Every alphabet had an individual key.

Index Typewriter: These typewriters were launched in the 1880s as an inexpensive alternative to the greatly priced keyboard typewriters. These typewriters were used regularly for domestic use and were not a success.
